I went to put it in 4-Lo and the transfer case lever came off, leaving it stuck in Neutral. I had to cut the shift boot open with a knife so I could see down there and get it back on. BUT I'm still not going anywhere until the 2 feet of snow on the road are cleared.

That blows my mind, that much snow. I don't know how you guys can deal with living in places that snow with such fury! Brrrr

We typically don't get more than three or four inches at a time where I am, but at least once a year we get a storm like this.

Nope, no snow for me! We do get some snow(Victoria, Australia) but nothing like the falls you have and if you guys saw it, you would just point and laugh at it.

Hahaha everyday I walk to work in the dark in sub -20 temps I ask myself the same!!!
But yeah snow is usually between 0, and -15. Below -15, it tends not to snow too much.
Which part of Australia do you live? A few years ago we had a girl from Western Australia? Western something (from Perth)...anyways and two years ago when we had a really cold day with a high temperature of -26C she said she wished she was back here to experience it. I was like "No...believe me, you don't want to experience this"....

Having lived in the area my entire life, I can vouch for getting used to it and even liking a snowy winter. Where Essextee and I are, some winters are bad, some not, what you can count on is 4 completely different seasons that all have their pros and cons.
Personally I don't like the hotter climates.

I'm around an hour out of Melbourne, so opposite side of the map from Western Australia.
A high temp of -26c!! So for a warm meal you could have ice-cream?

Haha you could. In the higher temps it's fine to leave your beer outside to cool off, but in the extreme cold you gotta take it inside or you'll have a car trunk full of beer slushy!!
I'd like to visit Australia someday, you guys seem really great, plus your girls are A1. At least from my experience.

Yeah I get the whole 'getting used to it' thing. I hate hot weather too, my 'happy' temp range is from 18C to 28C which strangley lines up perfectly with my birthplace! I can't stand the the weather further up the coast at certain times of the year, the humidity just sucks balls.

That's just amazing, beer freezing in the boot, er, trunk sorry. It must be hell on the vehicles.
Do it! Girls are nice but the cars! Don't forget the CARS!!

Oh yeah you guys have UTES!!!!
And I saw Toyota Century's for sale on some classified sight over there. Also V8 super cars? Also beaches.
Where I live in Canada we have neither beaches, nor V8 super cars. Damn it Canada!

Getting into 4-LO is a bitch in that weather. A few weeks ago I had to put it in low, and I thought I was going to break the shifter.

The cold doesn't bother the cars at all. It's the salt they use on the roads... further north where it's very very cold they don't even bother with the salt, they just plow and pack down, and everybody drives more carefully.

The salt is nasty, I'm amazed at how trashed some very modern cars can get due to the salted roads.
